You cannot simply put something new into a place. You have to absorb what you see around you, what exists
on the land, and then use
that knowledge along with contemporary thinking to interpret what you see.
Architect Tadao Ando

Sustainable Design

Antanas Procuta Architects advocates environmental responsibility and wise resource use. We are members of the Sustainable Business Network and a signatory to the Urban Design Protocol.

We have been able to combine the team’s varied experience to develop an environmental approach to community development and urban design. Our sustainable design work ranges from large community planning projects to commercial complexes and public buildings.

Antanas Procuta Architects have successfully diversified to major projects in urban and suburban settings. More recently we provided the architectural direction for Taupo District Council’s Lot60 Urban Design competition: a project which emphasizes the important relationship between land use and community design.

Partnering with the Enviroschools Foundation, we are working with the students of Hukanui School, as they research environmental design principles in developing a new Enviroclassroom. A priority in our design concepts is energy efficiency, the use of solar power and wind energy, and natural, (non toxic) building materials.

Antanas Procuta Architects is a Green Home Scheme accredited assessor. The Green Home Scheme is an independent method of assessing the environmental performance of new homes.
